SPC Flooring Installation

SPC flooring can be installed using a click-lock system or glue-down method on a clean, dry, and level subfloor. Key steps include preparing the subfloor, laying the first row with an expansion gap along the wall, and connecting subsequent rows by angling the short end and then the long side to lock the planks together. For click-lock systems, an expansion gap of about 1/4" must be maintained around the perimeter of the room and at fixed objects.

Before you begin

1.Check the subfloor: Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and level (within 3/16" over a 10 ft span is a common recommendation). Use a moisture barrier: Place a 6-mil poly sheeting moisture barrier on the subfloor, especially over concrete.

2.Acclimation: If exposed to extreme temperatures, the flooring may need to acclimate in the room for at least 12 hours before installation.

3.Plan the layout: Measure the room and calculate the cuts for your first and last rows to ensure they are a similar, acceptable width (generally at least 2 inches).

4.Add extra material: Purchase about 10% extra flooring to account for cutting and waste.
